CHICAGO -- A person of interest who was reportedly in police custody since Thursday in the slaying of 9-year-old Mya Lyons has been released, police said early Sunday.
Lyons was found dead in an alley by her father early Tuesday in the 8400 block of South Gilbert Court in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the south side.
A man who police called a person of interest in the slaying has been released from custody and was not charged, detectives said Sunday.
The person of interest, who was not a family member of the girl, was described as a man in his 30s or 40s. He was taken into custody late Thursday after possibly telling friends he had been in the alley where Lyons was found.
